The Contradictions of Booknerdery

One of the many identity crisis that I, as a reader go through, would be the fact that, faced with books, I have a million different personalities that whizz through in the space of 5 minutes. If you stick around for a minute or two, I’ll tell you all about ’em. Also, please don’t tell me it’s just me, because then I’d be not just a little lonely potato, but a sad little lonely potato left by Mark Watney on Mars. Can you even imagine the levels of sad *shakes her head*

1.

Me: No, really, that TBR needs to shrink…
Me (On the inside): NO, TBR, DON’T GOOOO, LIKE, WHAT DO I EVEN READ AFTER U

2.

Every piece of advice ever: Yo, man, uhh, like, don’t judge a book by its cover.
Me: *buys gorgeous book without even reading the synopsis*
Me: *DNFs said book because terrible story*
Me: *buys more gorgeous books* Naaah, it’s fine it’s fine… *empty wallet screams in the background*

3.

Me: *reads a creepy book while shuddering once every 5 minutes* No more horror fer me, matey…
Me: *watches movie adaptation* *reads 10 horror books one after the other*

4.

Me: I’m gonna blow this readathon wide open and read, like,10 books πŸ˜€
At the end of the readathon: *ends up reading 1/2 a book*
*pointedly ignores entire the entire social media and tries not to be traumatized*

5.

Pffft, OF COURSE there’s space on my bookshelf, hold on it just needs a little squeeeeeeeeze…
*bookshelf turns to black hole*
*instant apocalypse*

6.

Me: I HAVE NOTHING TO READ
*TBR pile topples over her head*

7.

‘No, really, I have to stop reading books that aren’t on my TBR…’
–> Total amnesia of this thought at the bookstore

8.

Me at the bookstore: Ooooh this looks good !! *buys book*
*finds out it’s book 12 of a series* WHYYY DO I KEEP DOING THIS TO MYSELF

9.

*New book gets released* *delays 230 upcoming reads for that one book*
OR:

10.

*New book gets released*
Me: I’m totes reading this next 😎
*takes forever in the book she’s currently reading*
*Another new book gets released*
Nonononono, I’m so, so, sooo reading THIS next
*this goes on and on and on and on until the original book promised to be read next ends up having been released 2 years ago*

Do you have the Bookworm Multiple-Personality Syndrome ? Because that’s totally a thing to me xD What are some contradictions you found yourself in ? Any ones we have in common ??

  1. πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ This is way too accurate. #2 is me every single time I go to the bookstore. Those damn beautiful covers. They get me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I can’t help it. I see something pretty, I get it. That’s it. LOL. Also, my poor TBR. I have so much to read and yet I say I don’t. Ridiculous πŸ˜‚

  2. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I do a lot of these. Except for me, I ignore my the books for library books. The series thing is the worst!!! When that happens I’m way too invested in the current storyline to go back and read anything else from the series!
